I LOVE Running
Wait, did I just say that? A fellow CrossFitter gave me a wonderful complement today by acknowledging my mass improvement on my running form and endurance! This is a big deal for me because I’ve never been a distance runner, only a hurdle sprinter. I would be gassed and gasping for breath after 200 meters and cringe when I saw running in a WOD. I’m happy to say, not anymore!
This Sunday will be my first 1/2 marathon and I am more excited than ever. A little nervous but I’m envisioning the feeling I’m going to get as I cross that finish line! It brings me to tears each time. My goal is to finish and not focus on time, stay positive, and enjoy the journey.
I came across this quote today: “A race time is just the final page of a book. It means very little without knowing the story leading up to it.” This quote got me thinking deep and pulled up all sorts of emotions and has forced me to focus on the journey. Mine started when I was born. The doctors said I would never walk or talk and (I never shut up) I’m about to run a half marathon and in two months I will run a full. With this being true, how could I ever doubt myself? I’ve turned a new page, instead of focusing on the “limitations” and fear of my knee hyperextending, I’m now focusing on proving to myself just how strong my right leg is and how far it will take me. My journey has just begun!

Friday I met Chad Michael Murray at Comic Con! He was there promoting his new graphic novel entitled Everlast with Archaia. Best day EVER! This guy is so humble, genuine, and nice! I am excited for September for Everlast release and can’t wait to review it!

CrossFit = No Limits
In a few months, I will hit my 1 year CrossFit anniversary. Naturally, I’ve been reflecting on how far I have come and I am forever in amazement. The changes I’ve noticed are far more than just my body, they are mental and internal physical as well. I’ve never committed to a workout regimen for more than three or four months and with CrossFit Endurance, I’m now training for a marathon. Yes, the girl who couldn’t run 300 meters in August without gasping is training for a marathon!
It’s amazing to look back at my WOD log and see how many PR’s I have made and consistently! I competed in my box’s Look Good Feel Good Play Good Challenge, which, I didn’t win; however, I did win within myself! My before and after pictures are ridiculous! I didn’t think I was fat before but compared to the after’s, I was a cow! The changes are that great!
I’m lucky to have found a box that is as supportive as a family and I genuinely look forward to going and seeing everyone’s faces and socializing while we “roll out” and stretch.
The conclusion that I have come to: I will NEVER say I’m in the best shape of my life because that implies there is no room for improvement. For me, CrossFit is all about improvement, new goals, and pushing myself further than I would ever imagine.
I’m nowhere near competing in CrossFit Games but I look forward to cheering on The Sea of Green (Invictus) studs along with my fellow spectator Invicti!
